Charity Kickoff Party: Helping Homeless Youth With Fitness

Bootcamps for Change Kickoff

We love what we do, but we know that there’s more than more to life than fitness.

A few months back, we announced a collaboration with Toronto-based charityBootcamps for Change. And while they're still a young organization, Bootcamps for Change has already accomplished some really great things for homeless youth in the city.

They know the importance of fitness and its positive impact on health and wellbeing. They also know how to have a good time. On February 28th, they will be hosting their 2019 kickoff party, and we couldn't be more excited to be involved.

The event will take place at RYU on Queen West, and will be a fun-filled celebration of the great things they've accomplished in 2018, and the cool work they've got planned for 2019. The event will feature a live DJ, a photo booth, and conversations with some of Toronto's most influential fitness leaders. There will also be some pretty awesome giveaways, including class passes at Studio KO and protein powder from yours truly.

At the event, Bootcamps for Change will be introducing their ‘Sweatier for the Better’ scholarship, which was created to educate and empower homeless youth and help them become certified personal trainers. They provide their students with mentorship, interview coaching, and employment opportunities with the organization. The first two recipients of the scholarship will be in attendance to share their amazing stories.

While our role is a small one, we’re super proud to be playing a part in making the world a better place.

And though it sounds like an exclusive affair, the kickoff party is open to anyone and everyone! The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and advanced tickets can be purchased here for $10. We look forward to seeing you there.

What is Bootcamps for Change?

Bootcamps for Change is a local charitable organization, on a mission to democratize fitness and empower homeless youth. They host weekly fitness classes inside of homeless shelters and offer trainer-certification programs to break the poverty cycle. We’d also like to thank RYU for hosting the event at their space. RYU was recently featured as one of our favourite Canadian fitness brands. We couldn’t be more excited to be associated with these great Canadian organizations.
